System integration

Communication and cooperation

Communication between various primary and secondary care systems such as hospital pharmacy information systems, pharmacy information systems, laboratory information systems and safe medication prescription monitoring systems is not always optimized and error prone. Hospital pharmacist often have to open multiple screens in multiple applications and transfer numbers and values from one screen to the other, mostly by hand.

Pharmaps Medication Safety PLUS simplifies the user's task and in that way contributes to both safety and efficiency. The system runs at a high level in the background of the existing ICT solutions of the customer. By extending it to the general practitioner and the community pharmacy, medication safety can be improved even further. All this will seamlessly integrate with electronic prescription and to EMD/EPD.

Information integration

Pharmaps Medication Safety PLUS uses information from multiple data sources, such as medication data from the hospital pharmacy information system and potassium and creatinine levels from the laboratory systems. The application has a modeling layer that can include the models of the sources. These models describe how the connections to these sources are made.

The modeling layer makes it relatively easy to add additional data sources to the system. The data in these sources are made available to the reasoning engine. To the end user this appears as if they come from a single source. The reasoning engine sends its advice to the user. The application can make this information available to different people and systems, as needed, also, for example on a handheld device.

Connectivity to both existing and future ICT solutions is guaranteed by:

  • The modular and flexible architecture
  • The communication platform
  • Unlocking databases in modeling layers
  • The reasoning engine with Clinical Rules
